6 | Hunter | San-Mai (1070 Core & Wrought Iron Cladding) | – | Sneeze wood | Red G10 |
This knife has a bit of a story to it.
San-Mai hunter – The knife with the historical parts from years gone by is finally ready for a new home.
The blade is 1070 core with vintage ox wagon wheel rim (the one from Philippolis in the southern Freestate where my parents retired in the early 90’s) – wrought iron outers.
The wrought iron has a “damascus like” pattern.
The handle is sneeze wood. This is an amazing timber. After serving as a fence post on a farm near Philippolis in the Karoo, South Africa (semi-desert) for more than a 100 years, it still looks like it was cut yesterday, when working with it.
