SAE 1075 High Carbon Steel is ideal for forging blades, and because of its durability and toughness, it has become an excellent steel choice for mixing with 15N20 for Damascus production. It can be used for larger blades and swords, Bowies as well as kitchen knives. Heat treatment specs below.

Description
HEAT TREATMENT OF 1075
Normalising Cycle:
829°C, Hold for 10 minutes and then cool in still air to black and magnetic.
Grain Refinement Cycle:
785°C, Hold for 10 minutes and then cool in still air to black and magnetic.
Annealing Cycle:
741°C, Hold for 30 minutes and then slow cool in furnace, ash or vermiculite.
Hardening:
800°C, Hold for 10 minutes
Quench in PQ11 fast oil
Tempering:
175 – 200°C
