15N20 Uddeholm Carbon Steel with 2% nickel, ideal for the manufacture of Damascus steel. 15N20 / 75Ni8 steel is a carbon steel with properties similar to 1075 steel, but containing a significant proportion of nickel. Ideal for making Damascus. The nickel content provides the shiny contrast in Damascus steel when combined with 1085 or 1095.

Description
HEAT TREATMENT OF 15N20
Normalising Cycle:
829°C, Hold for 10 minutes and then cool in still air to black and magnetic.
Grain Refinement Cycle:
785°C, Hold for 10 minutes and then cool in still air to black and magnetic.
Annealing Cycle:
732°C, Hold for 30 minutes and then slow cool in furnace, ash or vermiculite.
Hardening:
800°C, Hold for 10 minutes
Quench in PQ11 Fast oil
Tempering:
200°C
