Description
HEAT TREATMENT OF AISI 1070
Normalising Cycle:
829°C, Hold for 10 minutes and then cool in still air to black and magnetic.
Grain Refinement Cycle:
785°C, Hold for 10 minutes and then cool in still air to black and magnetic.
Annealing Cycle:
741°C, Hold for 30 minutes and then slow cool in furnace, ash or vermiculite.
Hardening:
800 °C, Hold for 10 minutes
Quench in PQ11 fast oil
Tempering:
175 – 200°C

Carbon steels are those that have carbon as the specific alloying element. They contain up to 0.4% silicon and 1.2% manganese. The residual elements such as copper, molybdenum, aluminium, chromium and nickel are also present in these steels.
